Jeep Liberty

I bought a Jeep Liberty Renegade about 2 years ago. It has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I have recently thought about lifting it up and slapping on some bigger tires as to take this bad boy off-roading. I haven't yet figured out why I keep getting ridiculed about this but I would like some incite if anyone has any.
The first thing I keep hearing, and although they say they are joking I don't think they are, is that the Liberty is not a real Jeep. I mean come on people, it says Jeep on it, it is trail rated by Jeep, and is ready to go whenever I am. I know its a Liberty and some say they are girly, but i have yet had a situation where I have gotten this SUV stuck in mud or snow. I have actually towed a Ford F-250 out of the snow while it was plowing, which was done with ease.
The second one is the fact that because it has the off-road lights that are from the manufacturer, doesn't mean that its an off-road truck. My boss sometimes tells me that the only reason they put the off-road lights on the Liberty Renegade so that my friends can find me in the woods when I get stuck trying to do what real Jeeps do.
I have really been thinking about throwing a 3 inch spring lift in my 06 Liberty and then throwing on some either 31 or 33 inch tires on there as well. What I am thinking is that once I get this work done then I will be able to get right out there in the mud with everyone else in their trucks, Jeep Wranglers, Jeep Cherokees, and other SUV's. I have always wanted to get my own mudding truck but now am ready to show everyone out there the true power and mudding capabilities of the Jeep Liberty Renegade.
